Boyd Cemetery ... From Hwy 2 go north on the Yaak River Road 29 miles until you see (on the left) the "Dirty Shame Saloon" ( see bottom picture ) then continue on for 13 miles.... you will turn left on the main road and cross a bridge over the West Fork of the Yaak River and then another bridge over the North Fork of the Yaak River until you see the mile marker 43 sign ( 13 miles from the Dirty Shame Saloon) the cemetery is on the left, you will see the Boyd Cemetery sign as in the picture below. Named in 1954 for Adam E. Boyd, an early prospector who died in 1917 in his cabin near Boyd Creek, and the first person to be buried in the cemetery. Adam Boyd was born in 1863 and appeared to have worked for the railroad until about 1911 when he turned to prospecting. |

DIRTY SHAME SALOON (Yaak River Valley) First established in a metal hut just outside the main gate of the Yaak Air Force Base in 1951. A log building was later built along the Yaak River Road which burned down. The current building was built from a rumored “five small structures jammed together” following that fire. |
